With a huge thank you to all our customers, we have been getting busier and busier season after season. To make sure that we keep up with demand and get the right bits to the right people on time, Jake Percival is moving on from his job in the warehouse to join the sales effort in the office. Having an extra pair of hands answering the phone and dealing with orders from our online shop and eBay is going to be a big help. This leaves us with a vacancy in picking, packing and despatching. If you fancy joining our team, know your way around motorcycle parts and can wield a tape dispenser accurately under pressure, then give Alan a call for more details. You can click in the header of any page to send us an email in the first instance if you prefer.
Not long until the new season now, so we hope that your bike preparation is well and truly under way. In less than a month now, North Gloucester Road Racing Club, Thundersport GB and Bemsee all have their rookies' days coming up, which will be a great chance for us to meet friends, old and new. If you are taking part, or just going along and have some particular items in mind to collect from our paddock support truck, just give us a call or click in the header of any page to send an email and we will do our best to make sure it is there for you.Racing starts in earnest in March, (check out our calendar page for dates and details, so now is a great time to make sure that you have all the essentials in place, so take a look in our online shop for the items that you need most often.Wishing all our customers and racers everywhere a safe, fun and successful 2016 season. We will see you there.
In a weekend of rest after his hectic off road escapades in Thailand, Alan found himself naturally drawn to go and watch some motorcycle racing. The national superbike championship round was convenient, so he popped along.Alan was thrilled to find some names that he recognised as customers in the programme. It is great to know that you have travelled half way around the world but still find people who buy their parts from you.
As an aside, Alan took this photograph of the tyre truck in the paddock there. In stark contrast to his own activities, which border on manic most weekends, these guys seemed to have time on their hands.
R&G Racing products have gone from strength to strength in the field of bike crash protection. See the range in our eBay shop. Here's a transcript of the company's recent press release, where A&R Racing gets an honourable mention:
2015 SEES R&G ENJOY MOST SUCCESSFUL RACE SEASON EVER! R&G has enjoyed an incredible season of racing in 2015, not only becoming an Official Supplier to the MCE British Superbike Championship but also being part of six Championship titles and an Ulster Grand Prix victory. The R&G-supported Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki squad were also runners-up in the gruelling FIM Endurance World Championship Superstock class, taking two victories. The 2015 race season proved to be an enthralling one for fans around the world and for R&G it was the most successful in the Company’s history. Moving to become an Official Supplier to the MCE British Superbike Championship for the 2015 season, R&G introduced the "R&G Rookies'Trophy", which was eligible for every rider in the paddock who was embarking on their first full season in one of the regular support classes. After twelve hard-fought rounds, it was Scott Deroue who was crowned eventual winner, with Joe Collier and Kyle Ryde finishing as runners-up. 2015 also saw R&G play a pivotal role in the newly-introduced Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup, offering each of the young competitors two sets of R&G "Race-spec" Engine Case Covers and a Toe Chain Guard free of charge, as well as a 50% discount against selected products. It was Cameron Fraser who eventually won the inaugural series, giving R&G its first Championship title of the season with it. Elsewhere in the MCE British Superbike Championship paddock, R&G supported riders enjoyed a clean sweep in the Pirelli National Superstock series. In the lower capacity 600cc class, it was a dominant year for the NMT No Limits Kawasaki rider Mason Law, who took six victories en route to the title. Equally impressive, Josh Elliott wrapped up the 1000cc class, following a dominant season where he finished off the podium just once. Outside of BSB, Road Racing star Peter Hickman secured his first International Road Race victory with a stunning -win in the Superbike class at the Ulster Grand Prix aboard the Briggs Equipment BMW S1000RR. Club racer Alan Russell wrapped up the Crewe & South Cheshire Motorcycle Road Racing Mini Twins series on his Suzuki SV650, having led the series all year. It was not just in the UK where R&G enjoyed success, however, as Kjel Karthin was victorious in the German Super Naked Championship, which is run as a support to the prestigious IDM Superbike Championship. Racing a Team Suzuki KARTHIN MSB GSR750, Karthin led the series from start to finish. In the Swedish Superbike Championship, 17-year-old rider Jesper Hubner defied his young age and rookie status to secure the title in dominant fashion on his Kawasaki ZX-10R. In the FIM Endurance World Championship, the R&G supported Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki finished runners up in the Superstock series, having taken victory at Le Mans and Oschersleben. Alan Garrett, R&G UK Sales Manager, summed up an incredible 2015 season, “It really has been a special year for R&G in race paddocks across the world. Our increased presence in the MCE BSB paddock has yielded immediate results, taking the Pirelli National Superstock 600 and 1000 categories as well as the new KTM Cup. It’s also great to see such success around the globe too, with the likes of Jesper Hubner and Kjel Karthin using R&G products on their way to their respective titles. It’s very pleasing to see Alan Russell wrap up the Super Twin series as well, helping to prove that R&G products are relevant to everyone, no matter what level you race at!" Once Christmas passes, the new season is only three months away. Alan sent a message from his off-road bike holiday in Thailand to remind us to let you know that we are only closing for the absolute minimum number of days over Christmas. How thoughtful of him!To summarise, you can call us and order bits for your race bike every day over the holidays apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. That should help you get them in time to make lots of lovely progress on your winter rebuild before heading back to work.
Our new Renthal and DID 520 pitch chain and sprocket kit for SV race bikes now available. Get in gear for 2016!We have combined these two great brands to create a high quality, reliable and well priced kit which we will be stocking throughout the 2016 season and beyond. For more information about the kit or to order, you can either speak to our team or visit our Ebay shop
Last weekend saw the final round of the season for Thundersport GB competitors. The A&R Racing Pre-National Sport 600 class ran right to the wire and produced thrilling racing throughout the season. Described by the club as "Ace-Murderers in Waiting", the competition was hard fought all the way through. The final honours and congratulations go to
We have just one more meeting to attend this year, being the Bemsee round at Snetterton 200 and look forward to seeing all our friends and customers there. After that, it is time for all racers to lick the wounds that any season will inflict on their bikes, make any changes for new regulations and get everything into tip-top shape for the coming season. Keep an eye on our 'blog for many planned new products over the winter and we will be there as always in the paddock throughout the 2016 season.
Don't put your bikes away just yet! There are still three meetings for us to attend with the paddock support trucks and the Indian Summer that we are currently enjoying is providing some of the best conditions for racing that we have seen this year. This was possibly a factor in the absolute lap record being broken at Pembrey while we were there last weekend. The new fastest ever two wheel lap around this great airfield circuit now stands at just under 58 seconds. Congratulations to Phil Bevan who broke his own record to stay the fastest rider on two wheels at Pembrey.
Foggy at Donington while we were there with Thundersport GB! No, sadly not THAT Foggy, but the conditions were sufficiently foggy to delay the start of racing for the day, so we all had to stand around and wait until conditions improved. When they did, it was a great day for racing, even thought the schedule got a bit compressed. There was still time for us to fit plenty of tyres though. We will look forward to seeing you all at Brands Hatch this weekend with Bemsee, then at Mallory with Thundersport GB on the 17th & 18th of October, before the season closer for Bemsee at Snetterton 200 the following week. Now is a great time to start thinking about the winter rebuild and getting all those essential items on order to make sure you are there, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when the 2016 season kicks off!
This weekend's Pembrey meeting sees the close of the season for North Gloucester Road Racing Club. It is always a time of mixed emotions at the end of a season; it's great to see everyone at the circuit, and the end of year party is always great fun, but this is always tinged with sadness that we are going to have to sit out a long cold winter before we can do it all again.A&R Racing has had a very long and close relationship with NGRRC over the years, spending countless hours in the paddock and Alan has changed more tyres than he can remember, even wearing his leathers when his race is being called.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all our paddock customers and we are looking forward to supporting you again next year, bringing all the bits a racer may need to keep their bike in fine fettle, and looking after the dull job of fitting tyres, allowing you to concentrate on riding your bike. Our other paddock truck will be at Donington Park this weekend looking after riders in the Thundersport GB meeting there. If you have any particular requirements for parts or tyres to be taken to either meeting, just drop us a line or call to make sure that we have it on the truck for you.
With the paddock support truck going up to Anglesey for the weekend, everything was going to plan. A plan which included a detour to Tonfanau, where Alan was leading the Minitwin championship by just 19 points. With three races to go and points being awarded at the rate of ten for a win, down to one for tenth, there was no room for complacency. The bike was repaired from all previous mishaps, packed in the spare truck, ready to rock and roll, and Alan was fired up for the trip down the Welsh coast. Until he lost the keys to the truck that is... Luckily, Danny Bridges came to the rescue with the loan of a van, so Alan set off from Anglesey after working in the paddock all Saturday, arriving at Tonfanau at 10pm. Sleeping in the van rounded off the perfect physical preparation regimen for racing like a demon the next day.Race one didn't quite go according to plan, with Alan being taken out and scoring zero points. Vincent Brett won the race, cutting Alan's advantage to just nine points...This also dented his aspirations for race two as it meant that he would be starting from the back of the grid, while Brett, his main rival for the championship went off pole position. By the flag, Alan had fought his way up to second, behind Brett. Championship lead down to eight points. This left everything to play for in race three. Brett started from pole again and Alan from second on the grid. Riding a tactical race, Alan followed Brett home to take second place and to win the championship by just seven points.
Huge thanks to Danny Bridges for the loan of the van and commiserations to poor old Jake who accompanied the AA recovery of the truck back to Somerset, arriving at 8am the following day. Heigh ho! It's all in a day's work here at A&R Racing. Here's to more easy days next season. There are only four more rounds for us to attend with the race paddock truck this season, so good luck to all competing, for all the undecided championships out there we look forward to an exciting finish to the year. Don't forget that if you are taking part in the NGRRC meeting at Pembrey next weekend and you need something particular taken up there, give us as much notice as possible and we will try to make sure it is on the truck for you.
The bike protection range from R&G Racing can help prevent a minor mishap spoiling your entire racing weekend. With products to shield the most vulnerable parts of many modern sports bikes from damage, a tumble into the gravel often leaves the bike unscathed and cutting down the amount of spanner time required to get it back on track.
To get your bike protected visit our ebay shop.
Not only are we taking the paddock support truck to Anglesey for the second time in a month, but Alan is leading the MiniTwins championship at Tonfanau and could wrap it up[ this weekend if he goes well.Despite having enjoyed a long and very successful racing career, filling the office with well over 100 trophies, including many race wins, Alan has never won a championship. He has been very close on occasions and been runner up several times, but cruel fate seems to have always stepped in and denied him at the last moment.
On Sunday, August 30th we will all be crossing our fingers for Alan, looking forward to good news when he returns. For those who have never been, Tonfanau is a challenging circuit that produces exciting races. Entry for adults is only Ł6 for the day, so the trip to cheer him on is well worth the ride out. Some fantastic roads take you there too!If you are taking part in the Thundersport GB meeting at Anglesey and need something particular from the truck in the paddock, just let us know.
Here at A & R Racing we are really looking forward to the Motorcycle Road Races at Brands Hatch this weekend! Brands Hatch is a challenging circuit, with dramatic bends and fast straights combined. We are anticipating an incredibly busy weekend, given that this event is completely sold out, with a record number of racers signed up. Combined with an excellent weather forecast for racing, this should make for an incredibly exciting event.
As usual, our support truck will be in the paddocks, on hand with the spare parts which will doubtless be needed. We will also have our usual stock of tyres including the Bridgestone wet tyres mentioned in our previous blog. We are looking forwards to seeing everyone at this event and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend of racing!
After a frantic race to repair the Suzuki after the crash at Pembrey, Alan was back racing at Rockingham in the Thundersport Club this weekend. The bike was fixed up just in time for Alan to take part in the Stocktwins class, riding at Rockingham for the first time! Despite the on-and-off weather, which sometimes provided bad conditions and sometimes very good ones, Alan did very well! He came 6th, 5th, 3rd, and, impressively, 2nd in the races he took part in.
These fantastic results were achieved in spite of the sticking throttle, which was still giving Alan some minor trouble on Saturday, and a misty visor on Sunday. For these races, Alan used the Bridgestone wet tyres, which performed exceptionally well on the Rockingham circuit. These tyres come highly recommended for use on F400 minitwins. For best results, try using a combination of an 120 front tyre with an 170 rear tyre. These tyres are now available in our online shop for delivery or collection in person from our support truck in the race paddocks of Bemsee, Thundersport GB and North Gloucester meetings.
It was back to Wales this weekend for Alan, who was once again riding his Suzuki SV650 twin at Pembrey. After successful qualifying on Saturday, Alan was able to ride in both the Thunderbike sport and Minitwins classes. He took the opportunity this weekend to test the new Continental Race Attack tyres. On Saturday, Alan finished third in both Thunderbike Sport races. Kurtis Butler provided his main opposition in the two Minitwin races, making for a race-long battle in the first race to gain fifth place. In the second Minitwin race, Alan beat Kurtis Butler by a tense 13 hundredths of a second for another fifth place.
Sunday's races began with the Thunderbike Sport at 9.25am, which commenced in typical Pembrey rain. Despite the weather, Alan garnered his first Bemsee win on the SV650, taking the lead in lap one to win by nine seconds. Sadly his winning streak was marred by a sticking throttle in the second Thunderbike Sport race which forced him to stop. The first Minitwin race on Sunday was similarly eventful, with Saturday's worn tyres losing some grip on the wet track and Alan bringing the bike home in 8th place. The second Minitwins race was an exciting 7 way battle from the outset. Mason Williams, Paul Wilby, Joe Buxton, Kurtis Butler, Lewis Mason and Alan were locked in competition up until lap nine, when Alan braked a tiny bit too hard through the hairpin bend, exiting the race over the handlebars. Despite this mishap, all was not lost as Alan set his best ever lap at Pembrey with a time of 1:03.1! The task at hand now is to fix up the bike for next week's races at Rockingham...
Following a successful weekend at Tonfanau, Alan came away with three more first-place trophies to add to his collection. Despite using his SV for the first time, he is gelling with it really well. The new bike is all packed in the lorry ready for this weekend's races at Pembrey, where he also hopes to try out the Bemsee mini-twinners! We're sure that Alan will be busy fitting tyres between races as usual, notably the new Metzelere Racetec Interact RR tyres which are now available! These excellent tyres are suitable for Minitwins as well as Formula 400 bikes and many others. Call into the paddocks to pick up yours this weekend.
Having achieved great success in the Isle of Man TT this year, stocks of the new Metzelere Racetec Interact RR tyres have arrived with us. These will be available in the paddocks at all meetings we support. However, being new and in big demand, it is advisable to let us know how many you need and where in advance to make sure that we keep enough for you on the van.By the time next week rolls around, we will also have the eagerly awaited 160/60/17 size, suitable for Minitwins, Formula 400 bikes etc..Call us now to make sure of your supply of these great tyres at the Bemsee Pembrey meeting, Thundersports GB's Thunder at the Rock (Rockingham) and the North Gloucester Thruxton round, all of which we will be attending in July.
Too many of us have heard the sickening sound of a bike falling over in the back of the van on the way to a race meeting, leaving the uncomfortable feeling of how much extra work is now going to be needed when you get to the circuit.Ratchet straps can be a good answer but attaching them can be a royal pain with plenty of fiddling to get them in just the right place.
Both of these inconveniences can now be a thing of the past with this unique tie down system that is easy to use and secure. Fitting the conntour brace over the rear tyre is a snap compared to threading through ratchet straps, and in no time flat, your precious race bike is secured to the van mounting points and you can be confident that it will stay that way until you unload it.Available in our online shop, or by mail order (just give us a call), this can save you time and stress when loading up for a meeting.
It is always good to see customers past and present on the time sheets of great motorcycling events. This is even more true at TT time. The people that take part in the world's greatest road races are due massive respect from all of us. There is no greater skill or courage shown on a motorcycle than in the Isle of Man, and the racing from there this year was fantastic, keeping us glued to ITV4's coverage as we couldn't be there ourselves.
Nearly as good as being there though will be to see some of the leading lights of the British Superbike Championship and the TT in parade laps and static displays at Castle Combe this weekend. The North Gloucester Road Racing Club's meeting there will be hosting some of the big star names in between races to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 500 Miles d'Endurance Race. Check out the club's site for more information. In a busy weekend for us, we will also be taking the paddock support truck to the Thundersport GB meeting at Oulton Park.As always, the trucks for both meetings will be well stocked with the items that all racers need to keep their bikes going strong, but it you want something particular, just call us or click in the header of any page to send an email and we will make sure it is there in the paddock for you to pick up.
With two meetings to attend, and highly changeable weather conditions, last weekend was a very busy one for us, particularly in the tyre changing department. A huge thank you to all the racers and customers at the Thundersport GB Cadwell Park meeting and the Bemsee Outlon Park races. It is great fun attending the meetings so that we can see our customers face to face and soak up the paddock atmosphere while fitting tyres and dispensing essential spares to help everyone keep their bikes in fine fettle. To recuperate, Alan is taking a leisurely chug around Spain on his Bonneville with Jay. In the office we had a small wager as to how far it would be before there was a mechanical ooh-nasty, with most bets placing the event some distance this side of the Portsmouth ferry. However, we haven't heard from him this week, so we can only assume that they made it out of the country and hope they are having a good trip.Long trips require comfort of course, but so does racing, so check out our new range of upgraded seat foam with new shapes, formulation and lower prices. It's in our online shop now.
The weekend of May 30th/31st will be a walk in the park for us. In fact, it will be a walk in two parks. Geoff and Jake will be at Oulton Park with Bemsee and Alan will be at Cadwell Park looking after riders in the Thundersport GB meeting. As always, if there is anything in particular you need, let us know in advance, and we will make sure it is on the truck heading for your particular paddock.
OK, all you snazzy snappers out there. Hands up, who wants to win a Dani Pedrosa mug? It may not make your coffee taste any better but it will certainly stand out from the crowd at tea break. All you have to do is send us your favourite bike related photo, whether it be from racing, from the road, off-road or just plain biker partying. We will pick our favourite and send the mug post-haste to the lucky photographer in question.Just go to our contact page or click in the header of any page, then attach your image file to a message with your contact details and we will do the rest. Please note that the maximum file size is 250KB, so please make sure that your images are suitably sized and compressed.Good luck!
The DID 520ZVM chain is a great choice for track day riders of big sports bikes. A little heavier than a pure race chain, it boasts the X-Ring technology that keeps lubricant right where it is needed, so riders will get the benefit of low friction with great chain life and value for money.Throughout May, you can buy these through our online shop or by mail order and get free delivery.Click in the header of any page to email us your order, or call us on the number above to take advantage of this offer while stocks last.
Virtually every weekend during the domestic race season, Alan finds himself getting up at silly o'clock and bashing off to a circuit hundreds of miles away. This week is a rare weekend off for Alan, so he is getting up at silly o'clock and bashing off to a race circuit hundreds of miles away. They say a change is as good as a rest. The change in this instance though is that Alan isn't going to be changing tyres for everyone in the paddock or dispensing spare parts. This trip is to support the British riders who are all doing so well in the three classes of MotoGP racing.
This weekend sees the French GP at Le Mans, so Alan will be cheering wildly for Danny Kent and Wee John McPhee in the Moto3 class. Will Danny make it four in a row? His season couldn't have got off to a much better start, and his demeanour is just oozing confidence. You can be sure that Alan will be cheering himself hoarse for Sam Lowes in the Moto2 race as well. Sam has been on the podium twice so far this year, with a third place and a win, so you can be sure that there is more to come from him.Just to make sure that there are no vocal chords whatsoever left in the Russell throat on his return to Blighty, the wealth of British talent in the MotoGP race will have him and the thousands of other Brits who make the short trip to Le Mans, leaping to their feet and shouting like their lives depend on it. Good luck to Cal Crutchlow, Bradley Smith, Scott Redding and Eugene Laverty in mixing it with the luminaries of the big class.Don't worry about loss of voice on Alan's part though, Geoff and Jake will be here, ready and waiting to take your telephone orders for your race bike essentials while he sits in the corner sucking a lozenge.
Alan's record on the new Minitwin is looking good. From seven races, he has scored three wins and four second places. The new bike is going well and Alan is clearly loving it, clearing off to win all thre races of his weekend at Tonfanau earlier this month. Watch this space for more outings as and when the busy schedule of supporting racers at Bemsee, North Gloucester Road Racing Club and Thundersport GB rounds allows.Talking of paddock support, out new van had its first outing at Cadwell Park last weekend. Despite the weather doing its best to turn the new awning into a kite, all worked well and everything was to hand so nobody had to wait too long for spares or for tyres to be fitted.
This weekend, we will be in the paddock at Snetterton for Bemsee's round at the fabulous 300 circuit. As always, Alan will be fitting tyres like a man possessed and if you need anything in particular taken along for collection in the paddock, order now and we will make sure it is in the van for you.
This weekend will feel quite odd for the crew here at A&R Racing. Having been to Brands Hatch three times in March, we won't know what to do with ourselves as we are not there. In fact, we are not out with the paddock truck at all this weekend. This gives Alan a chance to get out and do some more racing himself. After a very successful North Gloucester round at Brands in March, this week sees him out on the new Suzuki at Tonfanau. Situated on the coast of Wales, about 20 miles from Aberystwyth, this short but technical circuit produces some very close racing. The atmosphere is "Old School" and full of charm, with a friendly welcome from the locals. If you have Sunday free, we can recommend spectating at Tonfanau.
It will be great for all of us to get a bit of a break. This has been the busiest start to a season that we have ever known. A huge thank you goes to all our customers, whether buying online, by mail order or in person at the circuits, who have made this success happen. Finally, well done to all who took part in the Bemsee round at Brands Hatch last weekend, especially the club rookies who must have started to wonder what they had let themselves in for at some point, with torrential rain and howling winds making it a great achievement just to stay on the bike until the end. Looking forward to better conditions, we will see you at Snetterton in a few weeks.
We are pleased to have in stock the latest range of Biketek Pro Tyre Warmers. These have been greatly improved for the latest version and come in a wide range of fitments for popular racing classes. Here's the latest information:
Well, it seems that Alan doesn't anyway. After an absence of ten years from racing at Brands Hatch, and despite being in a new class on an unfamiliar bike, he scooped four second places over the weekend at the first North Gloucester meeting of the season. This means that Alan is now leading the championship, and needless to say was absolutely delighted at the way things went at Brands.
Unfortunately, the busy season of supporting riders through the paddock truck at North Gloucester Road Racing Club, Thundersport GB and Bemsee rounds, will make it impossible for him to take part in as many races as he would like, so the championship lead is held only temporarily, but it is always good to get off to such a great start.Being so early in the year, it was very nearly dark by the end of proceedings but we did manage to snap a semi visible picture of Alan with the spoils.
Despite almost being a resident of Brands Hatch for many seasons, particularly this month, Alan hasn't raced at the circuit for ten years. This weekend that all changes as Alan will be out on the Suzuki SV650, taking part in the North Gloucester Road Racing Club's meeting there.
Being the kind of guy that he is, this doesn't mean that Alan will be neglecting the needs of his customers at the paddock truck. As you will see from this pcture taken at Anglesey last year, he is there, fitting tyres to the last minute. At the time of taking the photograph, Alan's race was being called to the collection area.
Talking of Brands Hatch, last week saw the first outing of the season for our paddock support truck. And what a great start it was. Many thanks to all the Thundersport GB competitors who kept us busy throughout, making this one of the busiest and most successful weekend meetings we have ever had.
Personally, we find the use of tab washers to be a little more convenient when it comes to chainging ratios in a hurry at the circuit. You may also find the ability to get the power down early (or at any other time really) with a sprocket in this condition. With the new season coming up it is a good time to review your sprocket collection front and rear. Do you have enough choice of ratios for all the circuits we visit? Are your sprockets in good condition? How about your chain? We still have some great offers on chains from DID and Tsubaki, so you can save money while you stock up. Having a spare chain on hand never hurts. Likewise a few joining links are a good addition to any small spares collection, just in case you have to remove the chain to get the swinging arm out or what have you.
We also stock a wide range of Renthal sprockets, including super light front racing sprockets and anodised rear sprockets with just about any colour available quickly to special order so you can keep your sponsor's colour scheme consistent down to the finesty detail. Call us now or click in the header of any page to send us an email and make sure you have all the chain and sprocket options you need to start the season.
We are confidently expecting an invitation to the Brands Hatch staff Christmas party this year. With the amount of time we will be spending there, you could be forgiven for thinking that we are full time staff. This starts with three visits in March alone. This week at the first Thundersport GB meeting of the year, followed by North Gloucester Road Racing Club next week and Bemsee the week after. As always, the paddock support truck will be loaded with all the spares that racers may need to make sure that their bikes keep in fine fettle for the weekend, and will be fitting tyres like they are going out of fashion. If you want to make sure that we have a particular item on board for you, just give us a call or click in the header of any page to send us an email.
Chains have a very tough life on a racing motorcycle, transmitting all the power you can throw at them, plus dealing with engine braking and changes in tension brought about by suspension travel. All that while our glorious British weather throws an abrasive mix of rain and grit into their important little places. It is now wonder then that these items need replacing more often than most others, with the possible exception of tyres.
This can have an impact on the overall budget for the season, so we have negotiated discounts with two of our major chain suppliers; DID and Tsubaki chains are now available through our eBay shop and our own online shop with great savings on DID and an across the board discount of 10% on Tsubaki chains. These offers are strictly while stocks last, so get in quick and get yourself chained up for the season without being strapped up for cash...
At long last, the season is upon us. OK, it may still be a bit chilly but the days are getting longer and spring will soon be in the air.We are heading down to the NG general testing weekend at Pembrey to give the new SV650 twin it's first real workout, so will look forward to seeing all of you there.Wishing you a safe, productive and most of all, fun weekend testing with North Gloucester Road Racing Club!
This week, we attended the Thundersport GB training day at Donington Park. This was a very good day out, with encouraging turnout of new riders and old friends. Despite bitterly cold conditions (well, what do you expect in a British February?), the day was a great success. It is brilliant to see the level of enthusiasm that drags people out of nice warm homes on such a day to ride their bikes at such a great circuit, picking up the information they need for their first season in racing. Many of the questions we had on the day related to the choice of tyres. Luckily, Graham from Continental was on hand to offer first class technical advice. Graham will be with us at all Thundersport GB meetings this season. Continental are sponsoring the Pre-National Sport 600 class for up and coming riders, so we expect to be very busy fitting Contis at those meetings.Since we first got the latest range of Continental race tyres, they have been selling very well and scoring great results for many of our customers. Don't forget to get your tyre orders in early to make sure that you are ready to rock and roll as soon as the lights go off for the first time in 2015. As well as Continentals, we have stocks of Metzeler and Pirelli tyres for all modern sports bikes, as well as Avon and Continental in classic sizes. Give us a call today to talk over your needs, or click in the header of any page to email us for a quote. There are still special deals on offer in respect of bulk orders for your season's tyre needs.
Taken at Mallory Park in 1989, the sequence shows Alan launching his CBR600 into the Gerrards Bend scenery. By modern circuit standards, the run-off area at the time was tiny, so Alan was still going at a fair pace when he hit the tyre wall.We like the last image in the sequence where Alan is being 'eaten' by the tyre wall as his bike sails majestically on its own sweet way, doing a fair bit of damage into the process.Luckily, Alan wasn't seriously hurt but he did get knocked out and have to spend the nigth in the hospital at Leicester. So, Alan, do we get the office biscuits upgraded to Hobnobs now, or do we have to post kmore embarrassing photos from the archive?

Once again, the pet shop owner's brother had lied, Bolton wasn't a palindrome! Any excuse to trot out favourite "Monty Python" quotes eh? Anyway, Bolton may not be a palindrome, but it is a very good place to get your awning looked after. With just two weeks to go before the first outings of the season, it was high time to get our awning made good so that we can be sure of being out there fitting tyres and dispensing essential spares, regardless of what the weather throws at us. Here is the A&R Racing Services paddock truck at GH Awnings in Bolton being finely fettled, ready to keep the rain off our heads while fitting tyres.
Our first outing is on February the 17th with Thundersport GB at Donington Park, shortly followed by the Bemsee Rookies' Day at Brands Hatch on the 21st/22nd and North Gloucester RRC atr Pembrey between February 27th and March 1st.We are looking forward to seeing you there and wish a successful, happy and safe seasobn of racing to all the newcomers taking their first dip into racing at these events. They are also great places for us to hook up with old hands and friends so we will look forward to that and being able to pass on our best wishes for the season in person.
For anyone who has heard the sickening crunch of a bike falling over in the back of the van, investing in some decent ratchet straps may be the way forward. There are few feelings more uncomfortable than spending the rest of the journey to the circuit wondering how much extra work you will have to do when you get there to bring everything back to square one, or what the sponsors will think about starting the weekend with scuffs on their precious graphics. If you are fortunate enough to have never heard that sound or felt that feeling, then buying some of these R&G Racing ratchet straps and handlebar straps can be a great help in keeping things that way. Check them out in our online shop.
In the ultra competitive world of motorcycle racing, quicker, smoother gear changes can make the vital hundredths of a second difference that can put you in front. Spark is dead, gearbox unloads and the HM initiates an ultra smooth, gentle and unquestionably the fastest gear change you can get.• Sensitivity on the HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE is controlled from the linkage itself , and you never have to deal with “interface problems” again.• Every HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE works in “up” and “down” shift pattern, No need to buy different parts to change your shift pattern and you will never have the wrong setup.• Every HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE is adjustable for lever sensitivity, so you can adjust for the specifics of your motorbike, gearbox and riding style.• HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE has 3 setting for sensitivity with a fixed ignition kill time, so you can control how you use the gearbox and how you want the HM Quickshifter to work / feel.• The HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE is transportable, meaning it can be used on many different machines by using the correct wiring loom and shift rod length required. The HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE can be reused over and over! Multiple bikes, changing bikes during the season or buying a new bike means you can bring your HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE with you to your different / new machine for none or very little added expense.• HM Quickshifter SUPER LITE wiring looms are “plug in and go.” No need to splice or cut in any way and no complications with other ECU’s. Every year at about this time, Alan and Geoff go hunting. No, not shooting furry things that have more right to be here than we do, but hunting for the latest innovations in motorcycle racing parts and accessories at the annual Expo.Fearlessly fending off savage exhibition goers, the duo are determined to come back with the best stuff for their customers. God knows, it's a jungle out there and only the toughest come away with their prey, so here we go lads; elbows out, deep breath and dive in. Smoke us a kipper, we'll be home for tea!
These beautiful brake lever guards from Zeta are incredibly tough too. Machined from A7009 T6 aluminium, the design is adjustable to protect brake levers on a huge range of bikes. As with all brake lever guards, these will prevent the accidental operation of the front brake in case of contact with another rider. However, accidental operation of the clutch lever can also be catastrophic, even though slightly less dramatic than the front brake. The clever design of the Zeta lever guard allows a second unit to be reversed to protect the clutch lever too. They fit all bikes with handlebar internal diameters between 13.5 and 19mm, and are available in our online shop.
Last weekend saw the Thundersport GB annual awards dinner. Alan was presenting the prizes for the A&R Racing Pre-National Sport 600 Championship. The three at the top of the championship, shown below with their trophies are: 1st) Adam Reavill2nd) Dean Mulcahy3rd) Matt TrueloveCongratulations to the winners and well done to all who took part in this great series. We will look forward to seeing you in the paddocks next season for more close racing
In a sport where hundredths or even thousandths of a second count, being empirical about setup just isn't enough. To feel as though you took a particular corner faster, yet with less lean than previous times, giving you better traction onto the straight, where you think you were going faster than ever, isn't helping you learn anything about your bike, the conditions or your riding. That is where dataloggers come in. It is only when you can measure these vital parameters that you can really know if one approach is better than another and that changes in technique or bike set up are actually helping you to go faster, or merely feeling faster, which is so often not the case.
These new Speedangle products are different to many others in that you need no beacon so they can be used anywhere and at any time. They measure speed, acceleration, lean angle and lap times on a trace that you can then analyse on your pc.Armed with such information, you can make sure that every metre of every track is being approached optimally and make sure that your laps are as good as they can be. Check out the product page for full specs and prices. See the Speedangle Datalogger in our online shop.

After campaigning his faithful Honda 400 for many years, collecting scores of trophies along the way, Alan has decided that it is time for a change.Goodbye Honda and hello Suzuki SV650 Minitwin. This bike is almost the universal choice in the class, which makes for great close racing. Alan will be in his element with that and we are sure that there will be some good times and good results forthcoming in the 2015 season.
As always, we will be in the paddocks at race meetings with Bemsee, North Gloucester and Thundersport GB throughout the coming season and will look forward to fitting even more tyres than ever before and dispensing yet more vital spares to all our customers at the meetings. Before Christmas though, remember our special offer on tyres, with free delivery up to the end of December as well as great deals on Metzeler, Pirelli, Dunlop, Avon and Bridgestone tyres to get you ready to rock and roll as soon as the first flag drops!
Last weekend, the team had a day out trail riding on Salisbury Plain for fun and teambuilding. There is nothing like slipping and sliding about on muddy surfaces with multiple crashes and standing in waist-deep cold water for bringing people together. It is surprising how good emptying out your boots can feel after they have been full of water for what seems like hours and feeling like they weigh a tonne each.
There was plenty of mickey taking and mud-slinging (of the verbal kind of course) in the après off-road pub, where a jolly good time was had by all.Luckily, there were no lasting injuries, so the team was back in the office, bright eyed and bushy tailed on Monday morning. That is where we will be staying now for the next few weeks to make sure that all our customers' Christmas orders get send out in time for the big day. If you want to send something nice to your favourite bike racer this year, just give us a call or drop in on our online shop for the latest goodies.

Next year, the ACU is adding a standing regulation so that solo machines have to carry the same kind of rain light at the rear, that the sidecars have had for a number of years now. It is no good just going out and buying any old light though as the regulataions are quite specific. Here is what the ACU says on the subject:For 2015 Red Rear Warning Lights will be a requirement for solo road race machines. Classic and Vintage machines racing exclusively in their own races or events are exempt. The requirements for these lights are as followsAll motorcycles must have a functioning red light mounted at the rear of the machine to be used in rain or low visibility conditions as instructed by Race Control. The team must ensure that the light is switched on whenever a rain tyre is fitted on the motorcycle and/or when any practice or race is declared “wet” by Race Control.Lights must comply with the following:a) lighting direction must be parallel to the machine centre line (motorcycle running direction), and clearly visible from the rear at least 15 degrees to both left and right sides of the machine centre line.b) mounted on the seat/rear bodywork approximately on the machine centre line, in a position approved by the Chief Technical Officer. In case of dispute over the mounting position or visibility, the decision of the Chief Technical Officer will be final.c) power output/luminosity equivalent to approximately: 10 – 15W (incandescent) 0.6 – 1.8 W (LED).d) the switch must be accessible.e) rain light power supply may be separated from the motorcycle main wiring and battery.Luckily, we have two lights for different fitting methods available from our online store; a surface mounted type and a through panel type. These are easy to fit and wire in, so grab one now to make sure you comply fully with the regs for 2015.
Today, Metzeler announced their new race tyre to replace the Racetec Interact range. The origins: the Road Racing world RACETEC™ RR is the evolution of RACETEC INTERACT™, produced in line with the development of new bikes, and comes directly from the experience of METZELER in Road Racing competition in which the brand of the elephant has been participating with good results for many years. In 2014, riders supported by METZELER stood on the podium 39 times with 16 wins in the major road races. With substantial efforts in these activities, METZELER was able to completely renew its sporty range of tyres and, during 2013, developed and launched SPORTEC™ M7 RR and now, exactly one year later, has completed this renovation project with the new Racing Supersport RACETEC™ RR. In particular, RACETEC™ RR has been designed and tested in major competitions such as the North West 200, Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix, Southern 100 and especially the Isle of Man TT, where it won the Supersport class by equipping the Triumph Daytona of Gary Johnson. These races do not take place on track, but on roads that are open to the public throughout the year and in which you can find all the situations that each rider encounters in everyday riding. For this reason these events were chosen by METZELER as a test and development ground. The origins of RACETEC™ RR are clear from its name: RACETEC™ identifies the METZELER range of products dedicated to sport while RR, defined as Road Racing, testifies to the context in which this project was born. After thirteen years of campaigning his trusty Honda RVF400 with great success, Alan is looking for a new challenge. With so many classes to choose from within the clubs supported by A&R Racing Services, there are so many bikes that could fit the bill. The aim is to race something a bit bigger and more powerful, so anything up to 650cc that will run in a class at Bemsee, North Gloucester or Thundersport GB meetings will be considered. Also, if you are looking for a competitive 400 racer for next season, this one has had care and attention lavished upon it like few others, bringing it up to a spec that has carried Alan to numerous race wins and podiums. Call us for more details or click in the header of any page to send us an email for the full spec.

if you are heading for the North Gloucester Road Racing Club end of season meeting at Thruxton this weekend, don't forget to make sure you let us know of any tyres you may need brought to the paddock. The ultra-fast circuit is highly abrasive and very hard on tyres, so just to make sure we have enough of the right sizes on board the paddock truck, give us a quick call or click in the header of any page to send an email.
After this weekend, there is just one meeting left for us to attend. We will be at the Thundersports GB season closer at Mallory Park on the 18th of October, so will look forward to seeing all who are there.Thank you to all our customers who have supported us in the paddocks, through mail order sales and via our online shop. We hope to see you all again next season. Don't forget that we are still here throughout the winter for those vital rebuild and bike preparation bits!
We have reached that time of year again. There are just three meetings left in our calendar; this weekend with Bemsee at Brands Hatch, next week at Thruxton with NGRRC and the week after at Mallory Park with Thundersport GB.There is still time to order any spares that you may need taken to the paddock in all three meetings, but a quick call or email is recommended if you need anything at Brands. We are heading off on Thursday morning.
Winter and the closed season is traditionally the time for making good the wear and tear of a season's racing on your bike, or getting the bike for next season prepared for the heat of battle.Five months may seem like a long time now, but it soon evaporates. Throughout the winter, we will be dispensing vital race bike components via our online shop, mail order and to personal callers, so keep in touch to make sure that your bike is first up, best dressed for 2015.
In racing, small differences add up. This is never more true than in the matter of gear ratio selection. There may be many good choices of ratio, but there is only one that will be perfect for you, the circuit and your bike. Putting the power down a couple of hundredths earlier exiting each turn, thanks to having that perfect gearing adds up. Turn after turn, lap after lap, chipping away at your times, gaining vital advantage in the race.
To help you achieve gearing that is not just 'about right' but is exactly what you want, Renthal offers a custom sprocket service. Just tell us what fitment, chain pitch, number of teeth and colour of anodising you want, and in about three weeks, you will have it. Your sprocket, your way. These are all quoted on an indivdual basis, so call us on the number shown above or click in the header of any page to send us an email and let us know how we can help you shave off those vital hundredths and tenths.
Despite the circuit of Pembrey being relatively flat, being an old airfield, the A&R Racing Services team had plenty of ups and downs there last weekend's North Gloucester Road Racing Club meeting.Alan was leading the first Formula 400 race when his engine blew in spectacular fashion, putting an end to what was a promising weekend for him. Looking on the bright side, this left him more time for fitting tyres and dispensing invaluable spares without the amount of rushing that he had to do at Anglesey. However, I am not going to suggest to him that this is a good thing for fear of a flying tyre lever making contact with my person...
Geoff, on the other hand, had a somewhat better weekend. Despite being knocked off by a wayward SV650 early in proceedings, he managed three wins in the Streetstock 400 class and a third in the Formula 400.More trophies for the office collection!
Alan and Geoff are both racing at Pembrey this weekend and Jake is wielding the spanners, so it is like a company outing for the A&R Racing Services team.Despite all the effort involved in racing, you can bet your sweet plastic bippy that Alan and the boys will be cheerfully dispensing the indispensible items that every racer needs when away from home, as well as fitting tyres for all they are worth. If you need anything particular to be taken to Pembrey so that you can collect in the paddock, there is still time to call us or click in the header of any page to send us an email. In preparation, Alan's bike has been given a thorough going over on the dyno. I am sure that if you ask him nicely at Pembrey, he will tell you what power it is making...
Riding fast is so much easier when you are comfortable on your bike. Where you put your feet has a big influence on how comfortable you are, and as we are all different, this means that adjustable rearsets can be a very worthwhile investment. The new range from R&G Racing is about so much more than comfort though. Engineered for precision gear changes and sensitive use of the rear brake, these are works of art in themselves. The position of the footrests can be changed, as can the length of the levers to make sure that gear lever and rear brake fall exactly in the right place for your foot, while the range of movement available in the footrest mounting plates is second to none, allowing perfect positioning.R&G Racing adjustable footrest kits are available for a wide range of modern super sports bikes and we are still adding them to our online catalogue so if you can't find your bike in the list, give us a call or click in the header of any page to send us an email so we can find the right set for you.Check out the range in our online shop.
My mum used to say "A good man works to the last". As if to prove this, Alan is so devoted to his customers that he was even fitting tyres while wearing his leathers at Anglesey. Even though his race had already been called and the other competitors were heading for the collection area, Alan was still fitting tyres for all he was worth.Despite this, Alan still went on to get a race win, a second place and two third places over the weekend. Who says there is no such thing as perpetual motion?Alan will be back at the Ty Croes circuit in Anglesey again this weekend with Thundersport GB, so if you want anything particular taken to the paddock for collection, just let us know while there is still time to get it on the truck.
Extreme brake contrasts as in the photo may be an exaggeration of the variety of systems available, but ask any racer what the most powerful part of any bike is and they will undoubtedly tell you it is the brakes. Gaining speed efficiently is not much use unless the speed can be reduced with even more efficiency. This has to happen corner after corner, lap after lap with predictable power.Take a look at your own brakes. Do they keep their performance throughout, or do you get fade, changing lever 'feel' or binding?
The answer usually lies not just with one component, but with the combination of units that go to make up your system. Brembo is one of the world's great names in braking systems and you will find their range in our online shop. With the selection of brake discs, calipers master cylinders and brake pads available for modern sports bikes, you will know that your brakes are going to be as powerful and reliable as they can be with Brembo. Give us a call to talk over braking performance or click in the header of any page to send us an email.
In addition to his duties on the paddock support truck at Anglesey Ty Croes circuit this weekend, Alan is out on the 400 Honda again. Cadwell Park was a little disappointing from a results point of View, so Alan will be out for a good weekend at the 'British Philip Island'.As always, if you need anything particular you want to collect at the circuit, just let us know so that we can make sure it is on the truck before Alan sets off for the long drive to Anglesey.
Last year at the Bemsee Brands Hatch GP meeting, we were so busy that queues for tyre fitting stretched way into the paddock, despite Alan being up all night in a blur of tyre fitting activity. We thought about getting Alan cloned, but that was out of the question for so many reasons, so this year, we are pressing all hands to the pumps to make sure that everyone gets what they need quickly and efficiently. With two tyre fitting stations on the go, Alan Geoff and Jake will be on hand for friendly advice, spares and all the usual stuff that you expect from our paddock support vehicles. As always, if you want something particular, there is still time to call us and make sure that it is on the truck for you to collect in the paddock.See you there!
We all know the sound of expensive bike parts dragging across the tarmac. It's not only the cost involved in repairing that is a pain, but with the complexity of modern bikes, even a relatively small tumble can damage something to put a crimp in your weekend's racing.Fitting protectors for the most vulnerable parts can be a big help, and to help keep our customers running smoothly, our first consignment from the R&G range has just arrived in our stock room.R&G Racing Products is one of the best known names in bike protection. Just about every area of a modern bike can be protected using their products from crash bobbins and engine cases to radiator or exhaust protectors and frame guards. All superbly engineered in R&Gs workshops, their protectors are approved by BSB and AMA in which classes they are used by many of the world's top teams.
We are busily adding the products to our online shop at the moment, so just give us a call or click in the header of any page to send us an email and find out how your race bike can be protected. As always, orders can be collected from the paddock at any Bemsee, NGRRC or Thundersport GB round.Check out the products on the R&G website. There are protectors to fit just about every popular modern sports bike and who knows? It could just rescue your weekend one day.
We have had some great pictures from Rusty at Racing Line Photography. These show Alan hustling up the Mountain. Rusty and his team are great supporters of the meetings that we all attend and their images are always spot-on. They get to photograph from all the best vantage points and, to our knowledge, have never missed a rider yet, so if you need good images for your publicity or sponsors, this is the place.Apart from the rear brake malady reported last week, the new bike behaved itself well and the Continental Race Attack tyres gave fantastic grip and feedback in the variable conditions.
Our customer Simon Gates also put the Conti tyres to good use with North Gloucester wins at Castle Combe, then last week at the Donington Park meeting. We are fitting lots of these in the paddocks now, so get your orders in early to make sure that there are enough for everyone.Having had very a successful weekend at Rockingham with Thundersport GB and Donington Park with North Gloucester Road Racing Club last week, Alan is taking a well-deserved rest this weekend. His plans included throwing a tent on the back of the bike and heading for the horizon. Sounds good to me!The next outing for our paddock support truck is the Bemsee meeting at Brands Hatch GP circuit on August 9th ant 10th. If you need anything taken to the circuit, just let us know and we will make sure it is on the truck for you.
The move into our new unit is now complete, with the signs going up at the end of last week. There is now more room for stock, better facilities for personal callers and much easier access for loading the paddock support vehicle.Over the years, we have prided ourselves on the service offered to motorcycle racers both personally and via mail order, so we are looking forward to many more days in the paddock, more personal callers picking up spares and continued expansion of the product range in our online shop.
Many thanks to all our customers for their continued support. See you this weekend at North Gloucester's Donington Park meeting and the Thundersport GB round "Thunder at the Rock" at Rockingham. There is still time to call us for any special items that you may need taken to either meeting.
Alan't weekend at Cadwell Park didn't go entirely according to plan, as the rear brake caliper seized on and dragged the bike back a little. The resultant damage to the rear disc can be seen in the image. That one won't be much use but the quirky rectangular shape may qualify it as a piece of modern art perhaps...Alan's results were three sixth places and a seventh, overall not bad considering that the rear brake was using up more than its fair share of power, and Alan hasn't raced at Cadwell Park for nine years.
The big smile was over lap times, with consistent improvement over the weekend, setting his fastest lap times in Sunday's last race, while having a good dice for third place and generally enjoying every second of his racing. Here's to seeing you out on track more often this season and heading well towards the pointy end of the field.
The old unit was getting a bit cramped and making life a little awkward with the level of business that we are now experiencing through mail order sales, personal callers, stock for the paddock support trucks and our online shop.To make it easier to keep everyone happy, we have moved to a new, larger unit, from which we will keep dispensing all the essential race bike spares and tyres, but with a bit more room to move around. There will also be more space for personal callers, who will still find us easily as the new unit is on the same industrial estate as our original home.Look out for some pictures of the new premises, coming soon.
Looking at the weather forecast for the week ahead, Alan is very likely to be busy changing tyres for customers in the paddock. However, he is entered for the 400 race on his new Honda. We finished building the bike so recently that there hasn't even been time to apply any graphics, so here it is in plain white, ready to race.Good luck Alan and all others taking part in the Bemsee Cadwell Park meeting this week.
Time flies when you are having fun doesn't it? It has certainly flown here as we realise that we have been selling Pirelli race tyres for 15 years. Although this is only a fraction of the time that Pirelli has been making motorcycle tyres, we are very proud to have been involved in a period during which they have made huge strides forward in terms of their motorcycle race tyre range.

Resplendent in period riding kit to match, Alan tries to get used to the right foot gearchange and left foot brake of his 'new' Triumph Bonneville 750.Any donations of Octopus Mk8 goggles, silk pilot's scarves, seaboot socks and lambskin lined flying jackets are all gratefully received.Next up. Alan plans to practice curling his top lip and saying 'uh-huh' in an American accent while applying a generous layer of Brylcreem to his luxuriant locks.
It's great attending race meetings with our paddock support truck and seeing all our customers having fun racing. However, we do like to get on our own bikes and join in whenever possible too. In the past week, three of the team have treated themselves to new bikes with that aim in mind.Alan has gone all retro on us and will be commuting to work on his newly acquired Triumph Bonneville. When his birthday rolls around, there is no truth in the rumour that the rest of us will be having a whip-round to buy him a tassled jacket, flying scarf and seaboot socks to complete the ensemble though.Geoff will be campaigning a Honda NC30 in the North Gloucester Club's Formiula 400 series and Jake has bought a steel framed CBR600 with a view to doing some track days to start with and getting into racing when he feels comfortable with the bike. With a busy weekend coming up in just two weeks, there will be three paddock trucks out at Castle Combe (North Gloucester), Bemsee (Donington Park) and Oulton Park (Thundersports GB), there won't be much time for any of us to get out and ride, but we will be doing as much as time allows through the season. If you need anything particular delivered to any of the above meetings for collection in the paddock, letting us know in advance is a good idea so that we can make sure that the right stock is in the right place.
Modern race bikes have a number of vulnerable spots where a small amount of damage can seriously spoil your weekend's racing. Handlebars, exhausts, engine casings and radiators can all be damaged in even the smallest of tumbles. With the right protection for these parts in place, you can keep on racing where otherwise you would be loading the van ready to go home.Few people know more about protection or offer a wider range of bike protection options than R&G Racing. That is why we are so glad to be able to add their range to our catalogue and online shop. Watch this space for more information as we are adding the products right now. In the meantime, call us or click in the header of any page to find out what protection systems are available for your bike.
Donino throttles are very popular in Moto GP, World Superbike and many other classes of international bike sport, from trials, motocross and enduro, though speeday and road racing. Offering very rapid opening with silky smooth control, these Italian items are things of beauty in their own right. To paraphrase the great Kenny Roberts, any time spent between closed and open is wasted...With options of single, twin or opposed cable, there is a Domino QA throttle to suit most sports bikes and racers, and there is a choice of movements, measured in degrees of twist per mm of throttle opening. Supplied with universal cables, Domino throttle twistgrips are available in our online shop now.
Not content with one marathon journey to Snetterton this month, being at the Bemsee round there last week, Alan, glutton for punishment that he is, is heading off there agein today for the Thundersport GB meeting over the weekend. With the roadworks still in place dualling the bottle neck that has always been a royal pain still in place, this is bound to be a long haul.Luckily, when you get there, you are rewarded with a truly amazing circuit now, with three layout options. My favourite of these is the 300 layout, which has everything from flat-out straights to eye-bulging braking for hairpins and of course, the legendary Bombhole/Coram complex is as challenging a piece of tarmac as you will find anywhere. As always, the paddock truck will be in attendance, laden with all the bits you may need to keep your race bike in fine fettle to meet the demands of this great track, and Alan will be fitting tyres relentlessly all weekend. Have a great meeting if you are taking part or going along to watch.
Arrow Competition exhausts have been developed in Arrow Special Products R&D department to help you get the very best useable power out of your modern race bike.Competition exhausts have many differences when compared to a standard Arrow exhaust: increased diameters where necessary, different solutions for section changes and a specially-designed silencer. Each of these features has been designed to ensure a better performance when the exhaust is fitted to a tuned (therefore more powerful) engine.
Competition exhausts represent the pinnacle of Arrow product lines: these systems are directly based on the exhausts our technicians in the R&D hav developed and continue developing for major teams in Superbike and Supersport classes worldwid. These masterpieces are made using top quality materials and the most up to date exhaust manufacturing technology.Entirely welded via TIG process, the Competition exhausts are available in 'full titanium' version (totally made using titanium alloy) or with headers in stainless steel. In both cases the exhausts have a built-in plug to fit an oxygen sensor, so that you can check and change easily and quickly the ECU settings, to suit varying track and weather conditions. The design of the Competition series silencers give the bikes that typical Arrow look, ensuring top performances while keeping the noise levels within limits.A version of the silencer is available with a carbon rear endcap. Moreover, sensitivity to noise levels from race activities is increasing throughtout Europe, so a version of the same silencers is available with a removable dB-killer.We are busily adding these great products to the online shop, so while we are working on that, please call us with your make and model details to check availability for your bike.
The choice of many top 2-stroke tuners like Graham File, Bob Farnham and others, thi has to be the most admired 2-stroke oil in current use. The formulation used has been proved over and over again in the white heat of competition and under the most trying circumstances. Riders can relax, knowing that this vital component of successful 2 stoke racing is in place.
Castrol A747 Racing 2-Stroke Oil is now available in our online shop.
Born just seven years after Bob McIntyre's first ever 100mph lap of the Isle of Man TT circuit, in a week when Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas topped the charts with "Little Children", British bikes were the best in the world and you could buy a pint of bitter for 1/6 (7.5p), Alan has a few miles on the clock you could say.The popular view of bikers in 1964 was formed by films like "The Leather Boys" with Rita Tushingham and Colin Campbell, and if you saw a scooter parked in a public place, it was your duty to hammer a potato into the exhaust so it wouldn't start...
However, age doesn't stop Alan from being Mr Perpetual Motion at work or racing just as hard as anybody half that age. In tireless support of Bemsee, North Gloucester and Thundersport GB rounds this season, Alan will once again be fitting tyres like a hero and dispensing all the bits that you may need to keep your race bike in fine fettle. At least there was no racing over his birthday weekend, so he could have it off!
Coincidentally, in 1964 while Alan was busy being born, the Rolling Stones were busy recording "Not Fade Away".They could have been singing about the disc brakes on racing motorcycles of today, if there were any at the time...There can be few more gut-wrenching feelings than brake fade. There are many causes, but one of the most common is water absorption leading to boiling and formation of easily compressed bubbles.
To make sure that your brakes have the best chance of staying the distance, the best fluid is always a good idea. We have just managed to grab a limited supply of Castrol React SRF racing brake fluid in 1 litre bottles. It is not cheap, but when you are braking right on the ragged edge of performance, it is good to know that you have the world's highest performance brake fluid coursing through your lines. Call us now to secure a supply, or visit our online shop.

OK, it's second call to collection area, your fuel tank is off and it would be much better for your race result if it were back on top of the bike. This is no time to be messing around with screwdrivers or fiddly connectors. The convenience of a quick-release fuel coupler is only a small thing, but success can often be a combination of small things, and every little helps as they say.Our 8mm QD fuel connectors have now been reduced in price so you can make that connection easily for even less. Available in our online shop or from our support truck in the paddock at all Bemsee, North Gloucester and Thundersport GB meetings throughout the year.
Fresh from the first North Gloucester Road Racing Club meeting of the year at Brands Hatch, having enjoyed a busy weekend in the paddock, it is great to have caught up with everyone again. As sponsors of the A&R Racing F400 class, congratulations to all competitors, particularly Ben Harrison who took his first win in the class aboard a Kawasaki ZXR400. We will be looking forward to much more great racing in this class as the season unfolds.
Results from Saturday's F400 race:
If your race bike has an electric start, keeping the standard switch cluster is one way of making sure that you have a kill switch and start button available. However, a better way may well be to use one of our universal starter and kill switch units. These are clearly and simply laid out without all the clutter of a standard cluster. This makes them much easier to use with gloves on, especially in the heat of battle to restart if your engine dies on the startline...
Robustly built with the rigours of racing in mind, this small change could just make a big difference if you have to restart in a hurry.
The season us under way in earnest now. With the first meeting at Brands Hatch this weekend, we are now looking forward to North Gloucester Road Racing Club's first meeting of the year, also at the Kent circuit.Good luck to all those taking part in races run by the three clubs that we are proud to be associated with, Bemsee, Thundersport GB and North Gloucester Road Racing Club. We are looking forward to a great season of racing. With a packed timetable and full grids expected, everyone is going to be busy there over the weekend of March 15th/16th. Our paddock truck will be in attendance as usual, jam-packed with spares, tools and lubricants to keep your bike in fine fettle. Alan will be fitting tyres throughout, with all the usual favourites from Pirelli, Metzeler, Bridgestone, Avon and Dunlop on board as well as the new Continental race tyre range, which is quickly gaining quite a following. If you need anything in particular taking to the circuit, it is always worth a call to pre-order just to make sure you get what you want. Simply call us on the number above or click in the header of any page to email us.
It was great to see all the familiar and new faces at recent training days. Last week we were at Pembrey with North Gloucester Road Racing Club and the week before, Brands Hatch with Bemsee. Both days were brilliantly organised and enjoyed a great turnout of rookies all looking forward to a new season of racing. We wish good luck to all concerned and look forward to seeing you in the paddocks of meetings throughout 2014.
The season kicks off for real this weekend with the Thundersport GB race meeting at Brands Hatch. Welcome to Jake Percival who joins us this month to take on the formidable task of packing and despatching all your orders from our warehouse. Whether you order online, over the phone or by post, Jake will be there making sure that the right parts end up with the right people.I am sure you will all join me in wishing Jake the best of luck in his new job.
"Brrrrr!" is not quite the word for conditions at Donington Park last Tuesday. You have to admire the fortitude of bike racers going out to do their training day in conditions that would have made Titus Oates think twice before going outside.Everything went smoothly though and everyone went home happy. A number of riders tried the new Continental wet race tyres on the day and were very impressed. Let's face it, if a tyre can impress people in the snow, it has to be doing something right.
Graham Matcham from Continental came along to dispense technical advice and we had our normal range of spares and essential items available from the paddock truck. The hardest part was taking our hands out of our pockets to dispense them!Oh well, at least Alan was in the warm and dry, giving evidence at an inquest. Let's hope he doesn't get called away to another one for the Brrrrrands Hatch Bemsee Training Day in less than two weeks time.

Available for most modern four stroke bikes, check them out in our online shop.
After a very long and successful production run, the Regina 520 GPS racing chain has been discontinued. For many years this chain has been used on the most successful racing bikes, winning countless trophies and many championships. This chain has been one of our best selling items over the years and has been a great favourite among 400, Minitwin and Steel Framed 600 riders.
We have purchased the last 30 of these great chains to be imported into the UK, so go to our online shop to make sure you get one of these before stocks are exhausted. When they're gone, they're gone!
Thanks to all the nice people who have bought race bike spares from us through eBay, by mail order and through our online shop, business has got so busy that we have had to look for an additional person to take care of the packing and shipping to make sure that everything goes out on time and to the right place. This month, we have been busy interviewing for this post, and still have a couple of people left to see before we make a decision. Hopefully, the new person will be in place before the end of February, when things really start to hot up before the start of the new season.
There will be plenty for them to pack too, as Alan has just got back from the Motorcycle Trade expo at Birmingham's NEC, where he has been looing for new items to go into the catalogue in 2014. Watch this space for more details.

2013 has been another fantastic year for us and we want to say a huge thank you to all our customers who have supported us at the circuits, through mail order and our online shop. We are looking forward to seeing you all again next season.Huge thanks also to the organisers, marshals, medics and officials of Bemsee, North Gloucester Road Racing Club and Thundersport GB, without whom none of the racing that we all enjoy so much would be possible. The NGRRC Formula 400 Class promotes close, fast racing and once again we are proud to be the title sponsors of this series.
On many modern bikes with big brake discs and deep swing arms at the rear, the small job of checking and adjusting tyre pressures can be far more awkward than it should be. In the heat of race day, anything that can be fiddly becomes an irritation when you least need one.
With the Biketek angled tubeless tyre valves, one small pain can be reduced. Available in to sizes for rims of different widths, these make the valve easily accessible, even when you are in a hurry and under pressure (no pun intended). Find them in our online shop and make one irksome task a doddle.
It was great to see so many faces, both new and familiar in the Kentagon Suite on Sunday. Geoff and Becky were kept busy all afternoon meeting current customers and people new to racing with the club next year.We look forward to seeing you all in the paddock for the coming season, as we will be attending all the round with our familiar paddock support truck, offering all the essential spares you may need and fitting tyres non-stop throughout.
Don't forget though, in the meantime, we are only a phone call away for everything you need for your race bike. Our buy-ahead scheme for tyres can save you money through the season and there is a huge choice of items for your winter rebuild or new bike preparation programme in our online shop.
The consequences of catching your front brake lever on neighbouring bikes in close-quarters racing can be horrific. To prevent this, lever guards are now compulsory in MotoGP, WSB and BSB racing. We reckon that it won't be long before club racing regulations are changed to include this important safety rule.
The good news is that you can now get ahead of the game and save money at the same time. Our range of lever guards now has a reduced price of just £49 for alloy finish and £54 for black. Suitable for just about all modern bikes, these are available for immediate delivery from our online shop.
To make sure that you have all the race parts that you need in hand for the new year, we will only be closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years day over the 2014 festive season.Other than that, we will be here throughout normal business hours every other day. Please be aware though that couriers are under extreme pressure at this time of year with staff holidays and increased workloads, so it may be necessary to allow a little extra time for delivery.
On December 8th, the Bemsee annual open day takes place at the Kentagon Suite, Brands Hatch. If you are new to racing, or even just thinking about taking up bike racing in 2014, this is a great opportunity to find out how to go about it and meet all the people that can help you get started. The event always attracts a good selection of old hands who are happy to share information and experience with newcomers in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Bemsee officials and marshals will be there to explain the classes available and the paperwork that you need in order to take part.
You can even get your ACU eye test carried out and apply for your race licence on the day. After a long season of fitting tyres and dispensing race parts from the paddock truck and via mail order, Alan has decided it's time for some relaxation. I'm not quite sure where the relaxation comes into it, but he has booked himself in for one of the excellent off-road riding tours of Laos organised by Mike Wake.Let's call it dynamic relaxation for want of a better term. The pictures I have seen from Mike's Lao Rider tours certainly look like the country provides some very interesting and challenging off-road riding and some fabulous places to visit so a part of me is very jealous.
Alan being the organised sort of bloke that he is wouldn't take on such a tour without due preparation though, so he has bought a 300 GasGas enduro bike on which to practice. The first surprise was just how much of a rocket ship this 'little' 300cc two-stroke is. The second surprise came on the weekend 'fun' enduro organised by WOR Events just north of Shrewsbury, when he found himself falling off every twenty yards or so at the beginning. With helpful marshals doubling up as instructors though, he soon got the hang of it and is now confidently looking forward to taking on the challenges of Laos.
Next season of course. March may seem like a long time away now, but time soon flies and there is always a lot to do in order to prepare for a race season. While the paddock truck is parked up you will still be able to get all the bits that you need to make sure your machine is in top condition for the coming year through mail order and our online shop.Ask us nicely and we may even gift wrap that little something from me to me with love to go with the great deals, great gear and efficient service that our customers have come to expect over the years.
On October 26th and 27th our paddock truck will be at Donington Park, offering parts and support to competitors in the Thundersport GB meeting there. As sponsors of the Streetfighter classes, we will be looking forward to seeing everybody there. Don't forget to let us know if there is anything particular that you want to pick up in the paddock so that we can make sure it is on the truck.
We reckon that things like Respro race oversuits and Thermolite foundation wear will be in particular demand. Just a wild guess you understand! We wish all competitors there a successful and safe season closer meeting and look forward to seeing you in the paddocks again next year.
The final meeting of the Bemsee 2013 season at Brands Hatch provided some great racing to provide a fitting end to a great year. As always, Alan had a busy time in the paddock fitting tyres and dispensing general spares. The Bemsee organisation kept the meeting running like clockwork and a good time was had by all, on and off the track.Thank you to the club, all officials, marshals and medical teams for making all this possible, and a special thank you to all the competitors for continued support and custom through the season both in person and through our online shop.
Looking forward to 2014, many riders have started planning new bikes, modifications and rebuilds to take their campaign forward into the new season. The Bemsee rounds look like being fantastic again with races planned for Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Oulton Park, Silverstone International, Donington Park and Cadwell Park. This has got to be the best and most challenging calendar in British racing. We will be here throughout the winter to provide any race spares that you need to fettle your machine and make sure it is ready to meet the challenges head on. Good luck to all concerned and once again, our thanks for your support and custom through 2013.
In just two weeks time we will be heading for Donington Park with the paddock support truck for the very last outing of our 2013 season. Thundersport GB is organising the meeting and we will be there with tyres and spares as always. With the time of year comes a slight chill, which even the hardiest soul may find a little concentration-sapping, particularly when cutting through the air at racing speeds. To help make sure that you finish the race being able to feel all the parts you could feel at the beginning, we suggest that you take a look at the Thermo-Lite range of under garments. These are amazingly good at keeping in your body heat, yet thin and light enough to fit comfortably under tight racing leathers. Ordering in advance is recommended to make sure we have your size to collect in the paddock.
It is a very sad time for all forms of British motorsport, particularly in terms of employment for people in the hard-hit east midlands area who relied on work from Mallory Park. Under the assumed banner of a noise complaint, greed and avarice have forced This tremendouse, historic and important circuit into administration.Exactly how people who weren't even born when a race circuit started can buy a house near it and then start complaining about the noise, sufficiently to beguile a British court into cutting circuit hours to a point where they are no longer economical is beyond me. Justice? I doubt it. I have just two fond hopes now. Firstly, that the administrators can find some way of keeping this circuit going, even at a reduced capacity. Failing that, if the property developers do move in, I hope that they are forced to build a high proportion of affordable dwellings so that all the unemployed local people, recently released prisoners with nowhere to go, and new arrivals in our country can share the enjoyment of this beautiful part of the country.Alan was there at the closing of the circuit and it was a highly emotional time for all bike and car racing fans. The history here can't be bought, sold or replaced. It is a part of the soil, the spirit of racers long gone mingles with the cheers of recent crowds to raise the hairs on the back of my neck every time I think of my favourite spectator circuit, Mallory Park. The same trick has been tried with varying levels of success at different circuits around the country, particularly, Croft Autodrome, Castle Combe and Oulton Park. To help protect the sport that we love, one thing we can do is take away one potential weapon from those who would harm it by keeping noise to a minimum. Check out our range of dB killers and other exhaust accessories that can help you do your bit to silence not only your bike, but our critics as well.
Alan's Aintree debut went well with a third place in his first ever Formula 400 race at this historic circuit, losing second place only on the last lap. Sadly, bike gremlins caused DNFs in the Formula 400 and Open 500 class for the rest of the weekend, but Alan returned full of praise for the track and the organisers, Aintree Motorcycle Racing Club, who organise 6 meetings a year on the Club Course. The conditions were dry but cool and the new Continental race tyres behaved impeccably, giving stable, predictable handling hat inspired confidence to push, even on an unfamiliar track. When asked about racing at Aintree again, Alan's reply was "Definitely", so we are hoping for a bit more reliability from the bike next time there and looking forward to more silverware for the already groaning office trophy shelf. To find out more about taking part in races at Aintree and following in the wheeltracks of legends from the glory days of motorsport, call the club's secretary, John Abel on 01257 462 216, or take a look at their website.
The circuit at Aintree is very significant and historic. Back in its glory days of the 1950s and 60s it hosted the British GP five times as well as a non-championship F1 event known as the Aintree 200. It was the scene of the first ever victory in a Grand Prix for a British driver in a British car when Sterling Moss won the 1957 event in a Vanwall. The grandstands were shared with the horse racing track at the time and many prestigious races were fought out between the greatest of the great at that time.
The grand prix circuit closed in 1964 but racing carries on there to this day on the 1.5 mile club circuit, which still uses part of the famous old track, featuring four right hand bends of varying radius and complexity, and one left hander, so must pose a real test for tyres and riders with the left hand side being cold for much of the lap. This weekend, Alan is taking the Honda to Aintree, racing in the Formula 400 and the open 500cc classes. This is his first time at the circuit, so will be a learning experience as well as a chance to race against new opposition on a circuit that looks simple on paper. However, experience has invariably shown that circuits which look simple on paper invariably have a few surprises up their sleeve with technical sections over which, local knowledge can be worth a lot of time.As always, Alan will be doing his utmost to meet the challenge head on and we are looking forward to a new trophy or two adorning the office cabinets next week. As a thank you from the awfully nice people at Pirelli, Alan has been whisked off today for a tour of the Caterham F1 facility in Oxfordshire. He will be hob-nobbing with their drivers Charles Pic, Giedo Van Der Garde, Heikki Kovalainen and Alexander Rossi as well as the designers, mechanics and engineers that keep this great British team moving. There is bound to be a buzz about the place with the team just returning from Sunday's Italian Grand Prix where their drivers finished 17th and 18th.Although Alan will probably return with a serious case of workshop envy, this won't mean a move into the four wheel world of tyres, we are far too busy keeping stocks of Pirelli tyres up to date for all our bike racing customers.
As always, you can get your Pirelli race tyres via mail order, have them fitted at our Paddock support truck or through our online shop. For tyre advice, call us on the number above or click in the header of any page to send us an email.
Well, why not there? It seems to have started everywhere else now after that glorious summer that we have been enjoying until recently. With a few meetings to go this season, this probably makes it a good time to remind racers that they can find the usual great range of wet race tyres at our paddock support truck, including the new range of Continental race tyres which seem to be going very well indeed.
A number of minitwin riders have now tried the new Bridgestone 170/630/17 E087 wet reat and come back with very positive report on its performance. In theory, this tyre is somewhat oversize for the 4.5 inch rims, but in practice seems to work quite well and is a good bit more affordable then the Dunlops. Every oittle helps!
The range of lithium race batteries saves huge amounts of weight compared to the standard item, up to 65% in many cases. Combined with their excellent life cycle of 2000+ charges and their super cranking power for starting even temperamental race engines, this makes them the perfect choice for bike racing.
Even better news is that all this comes at a lower price now. With a price cut of up to 15% across the board, these batteries are even better value than ever. Check out the range in our online shop to find the one that fits your bike. You can either have it delivered or order for collection in the paddock at any of the forthcoming race meetings that we will be supporting.
When it comes to making sure that fasteners stay fastened, there is only one method that an be completely trusted, locking wire. For keeping hold of your nuts, there is just no substitute. You can now find all that you will need to lockwire your important places together in our online shop. From the basics like lockwire i a handy dispenser and wire locking pliers, through to some clever locking washers that allow you to lockwire bolts without drilling, it is all there. Likewise, you can collect any of the above items from our support truck in the paddock at Bemsee, Thundersport GB and North Gloucester Club race meetings as well as selected track days.
Every now and again, Dick the Barber from Yamaha Past Masters gets his tools out at a race meeting and gives everyone a Mohican with all proceeds going to the Club Fatboy fund to help Craig Jennings on his road to recovery from horrible injuries incurred racing in 2010.
I have to say that the haircut looks good on you there Alan. The paddock needs more mohicans, and on a purely practical level, it won't get in your eyes while you are frantically fitting tyres and dispensing the myriad spares that all racers need from the paddock truck.
If you will pardon the pun, hopefully any employees of well-known cough sweet makers won't be reading this anyway. This is far more important than two to Crewe with nasal Norman anyway, this is about protecting your engine from airborne contaminants while maintaining the maximum possible air flow in order to wring every last possible bit of power out of it.
The new K&N racing air filter has just two layers of cotton to provide even lower air restriction than our replacement air filter for street vehicles. Unlike K&N replacement air filters, fuel management modifications will be necessary with this racing filter. K&N racing air filters are washable and reusable and come with a one year limited warranty. These are now available from our online shop, over the phone mail order and from our paddock trucks at meetings throughout the season. The latest range suits most popular modern superbikes, so if you can't find what you are looking for online, give us a call to check availability for your bike.
Crashes happen in the best of families, as it is impossible to know where the limit is until you go beyond it. Crashing can also be expensive, with many of the components on modern bikes being vulnerable and costly to replace.Items like clutch covers and alternator covers can be damaged in even the smallest of get-offs, so it makes sense to replace them before they fall victim with items from the GB Racing range. These items are much tougher and wear resistant than the originals, being made out of a revolutionary new high-impact composite material containing 60% long glass fibred nylon, which is incredibly tough. They are beautifully designed too, being direct bolt-onb replacements for original items. For most modern superbikes the range comprises:
Two Brothers Racing made it a priority to research and develop an exhaust that will be the perfect compliment to your machine. With performance, versatility, and a sleek style that has been a standard for TBR for over 25 years. The Two Brothers premium selection of motorcycle exhaust systems has been designed with your particular requirements in mind.
Choose from slip-ons, flange-on exhaust systems, and full systems to upgrade your bike and increase performance on demand. Extensive product testing and hours of dyno time along with meticulous attention to detail make these exhausts a first choice for many riders wanting to get worthwhile power increases while keeping a nice, rideable torque curve and response. Two Brothers' build quality is second to none so you will be buying a product that really lasts too, and thrives on the hard life that bike racing hands out to any exhaust system.Check out the extensive range in our online shop.
This weekend's triple header is getting closer and we have massive stocks of tyres ready to fit in the three paddocks at Donington Park, Oulton Park and Rockingham. If you need something particular taken to any of these meetings, there is still time to phone your orders in - just!
The new range of Continental race tyres is selling very well and the tyres are getting some great results. We also have all the old favourites from Dunlop, Pirelli, Metzeler and Avon, so look out for us in your paddock.
Classic and historic racers need tyres too! Sometimes the right kind of tyre in the right size can be hard to find for older bikes, often with 18 inch wheels and narrow rims. For racers of classic bikes, our online shop is well stocked with Dunlop and Avon race tyres in suitable sizes. Additionally now we are very excited to add the Continental offerings to this range. These newly developed tyres are designed to give good cold performance and quick warm-up as well as exceptional grip at extreme lean angles.
As an added bonus, being made in the modern Continental factory with new moulding techniques and up to date compounds, these tyres are exceptionally good value for money too. Our customers in the 400 and minitwin classes have had great success with Continental race tyres. Now these are available for classics.
The best lap times can often rely on reducing speed as efficiently as gaining it. Great brakes can make a significant difference to performance. That's why you will find the range of Brembo brake master cylinders in our online shop now. As well as being works of art in themselves, the Brembo range offers the unparalleled power and feel of radial cylinders and comes in a choice of bores to suit all configurations of single and twin disc brakes.
To get the best leverage for all riders, the infinitely adjustable span levers are available in short or long configuration and there is a flip-up option to minimise damage in the event of a mishap. Spare levers are also available for such exigienices!Matching clutch master cylinders are also available to give a light feel and smooth control for those all important rocket-ship starts too. The rear master cylinder is available in three bore sizes to upgrade or fine tune your rear brake to get just the feel you need when balancing the bike, particularly in our all too common wet conditions. If you need advice on which cylinders are best suited to your bike, just give us a call on the number above, or click in the header of any page to send an email. Pop along to our paddock support trucks at most race meetings if you prefer face to face conversation, visitors are always welcome.
Or if you want to track accurately around the corners for that matter. This sage advice concerns your fork legs of course, where minimising unwanted movement is vital to avoid a multitude of handling problems. No matter how good your steering damper is, a rigid connection to the forks will make sure it is allowed to perform to its full potential. These small items of desire are made to the highest standards of fit and rigidity by SES. Check out the range in our online shop.
The weekend of July 27th/28th is going to be our busiest one of the year. With meetings at Donington Park (Bemsee) Rockingham (Thundersport GB) and Outlon Park (North Gloucester Racing Club), we are thinking about having Alan cloned to cover the need for tyre fitting...
Luckily, a volunteer has stepped into the breech, so we will keep the DNA samples safe until needed. What is going to be harder than cloning Alan is going to be making sure that there is enough of the right kind of stock in all three places to keep everyone going and happy. If you need any particular tyres or spares at any of the above meetings, we strongly recommend that you pre-order, either by phone or through the online shop for collection or fitting in the paddock. We still have over four weeks but that soon disappears, so get your orders in now to make sure of the things that you need.
Bridgestone's best-selling 165 section rear wet tyre has been replaced with a 170 section. Not a big change, but also not the only change in the ever evolving world of motorcycle tyres. If you wanted anywhere that defined the word "wet" last weekend it was Snetterton. The rain came at every intensity from a very light shower to blinding, horizontal torrents, giving track conditions that swung wildly between dry all round the circuit to a virtual river of rain.
Despite this incredibly difficult set of conditions, the new tyres worked very well, giving Adam Cross the grip to finish second in the Minitwins, with Joe Buxton third. In the EDI Asia 400 races, Dan Ruth took a third, also on the new Bridgestone wets. These tyres are available from Alan in the paddock at Bemsee, North Gloucestershire and Thundersport GB race meetings as well as selected track days. To make sure that you get yours in good time, you can also buy them in our online shop.
Modern motorcycle braking systems are notoriously hard to bleed with lots of nooks and crannies for the last stubborn air bubbles to hide in. This is even more difficult when you are trying to do it without the aid of a willing assistant. You can now make this so much easier with the selection of brake bleeding systems available in our online shop. From a simple one-way valve system to a super-convenient vacuum system, you can choose the level of sophistication that suits the way you work.
In a fantastic weekend's racing at this challenging circuit, Alan scored two second places behind Simon Gates in the North Gloucester 400cc class. Both riders were on the new Continental Tyres, which are available from our online shop, as well as being a regular feature in our paddock truck, where Alan will fit and balance them for you at race meetings and track days.
Both riders agreed that the feel and levels of grip from the Contis was outstanding and their predictability really helped to keep the battle royal going between them right to the flag.Look out for Alan's results over the rest of the season, using Continental Race tyres on his freshly rebuilt VFR400.
In the "Who the Hell is..." series of articles, Superbike Magazine features our Alan this month. The article traces Alan's progress as a racer both on mainland circuits and in the Isle of Man, through humble beginnings of A&R Racing Services in 1993, right up to today. The business has now grown to operate two paddock trucks, often on the same weekend, a thriving mail order business and growing sales from the online shop.In the sub-head of the article, Chris Northover says "If you've been club racing, you already know; Alan Russell is the race and tyre support glue that holds the racing community together. He's also quite handy on a 400".It's all so very true, and a great article giving insight into how Alan has evolved his business into one that efficiently supplies club racers with just about everything they need. A visit to the paddock truck at the forthcoming Snetterton Bemsee meeting and the Thundersport GB Oulton Park, the weekend after next will confirm the business context, while taking a look at the Castle Combe results above bears witness to Alan's "handiness" on a 400!
From Friday, June 21st there is a hectic weekend in prospect for the A&R Racing team. We have two trucks out, one at Oulton Park for the Thundersport GB meeting on Friday and Saturday, and another at the Bemsee Snetterton 300 meeting. These two brilliant circuits offer contrasting, yet challenging styles, with a great contrast in age too. Oulton Park has evolved over 80 years to offer massive elevation changes and brows to test man and machine. On the other hand, Snetterton is characteristically flat as you would expect from an airfield track, but the addition of many completely new bends in the total facelift that MSV gave it a couple of years back has introduced incredible variety. Both circuits demand a huge amount from bike and rider, so machine preparation is vital.
As always, Alan will be fitting tyres and dispensing the myriad items that racers need to keep their bikes up together for the weekend. If you need anything particular, just let us know and we will make sure it is on the truck for you.
The Biketek sprocket nuts have just arrived in our online shop. Apart from being resplendent in anodised red, black or gold finish, these save a good deal of weight compared to normal steel sprocket nuts. This weight is unsprung where reductions really count, and every bit of rotating mass that takes less energy to accelerate makes a contribution, however small to the power available to drive your bike forward. These will suit most modern bikes, being available in 10mm and 12mm thread. There is no loss of strength either as the threads are formed in stainless steel inserts, so you can be sure that your sprockets are securely attached, and can be changed over and over again without wearing the threads. Now, we reckon that has to be £15.99 for a pack of six, money well spent.
This is a great piece of video footage shot from the bike of Francesco Cavalli in the EDI Asia 400 race at Pembrey at the beginning of May. The race long battle went to Cavalli in the end, leaving Alan in second place. It's a great piece of video, so enjoy!By the way, look out for us in the paddock this weekend at Oulton Park, next week at Castle Combe, where, bike willing, Alan will be taking up the cudgels again and looking to reverse the positions from Pembrey.
With Castle Combe fast approaching on June the 8th, there is a huge workload to get everything ready to take part in the North Gloucester meeting. Having damaged one bike at Thruxton last season, it was quicker to get another one on board for Pembrey, swapping the front end and wheels from bike 1. So far so good...
Had it not been for the highside in the third EDI Asia 400 race, things would have been just fine. With second place in the first two races, Alan was fired up and going well. The bike then fired Alan 20ft into the air, causing him to land on his head, writing off his helmet, knocking him unconscious and causing the medical team to cut off his leathers, just as they had done at Thruxton. So, for a full house of twos, we have...
We hope you all enjoyed watching the Moto GP last weekend. Seeing the heroic efforts of Scott Redding winning the Moto 2 race, and a very beaten up Cal Crutchlow's great second in the main event is enough to make any British heart glad. Alan was there and can testify to the great atmosphere that there was at Le Mans.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn't anyone's friend over that weekend, especially not Alan's. He calculates that out of the 700 miles his trip took him, 650 or so were covered in heaving rain. Add to that the leaking rent-a-tent that filled up his bag of clothes with water and you have a pretty soggy weekend all round. All that Alan had to wear for dinner and beers on Saturday night was his waterproof suit! Missing the boat back and having to make a 100 mile detour to an alternative ferry in pouring rain didn't help much either! As always though, Alan is smiling through it all and will be at Oulton Park for the Bemsee meeting on May 31st/June 1st as well as the North Gloucester meeting at Castle Combe on June 8th and 9th, dispensing cheer and bike spares from the familiar paddock truck. Don't forget to call if you need anything particular taken to either meeting for collection from the paddock. See you there!
With a weekend off from bike racing duties, what better to do than go and take in some bike racing? As the A&R Racing Services paddock truck is parked up for the weekend, Alan has tajkenb the opportunity to head off to Le Mans to watch this weekend's Moto GP racing. With the season well under way now, the fascinating battle for supremacy between the established stars, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Rossi et al, and the Young Pretender Marquez is bound to draw a huge crowd to the Circuit Bugatti. Like all British fans, Alan will be saving a special cheer for Cal Crutchlow as he continues to cover himself in Moto GP glory. Hopefully, the vocal chords will recover in time for the next outing when he gets back to Britain
This means that as well as the usual huge choice of tyres and race bike spares always carried on our truck to British meetings, Alam will be able to dispense a blow by blow account of the event to customers at the forthcoming Bemsee round at Oulton Park at the end of May.Don't worry if you need something particular taken along for collection from the paddock, Geoff, Jake and Matthew are still here ready to take your calls and orders so that we can make sure what you want will be on the truck in time.
Alan was out on the Honda in the EDI Asia 400 races at Pembrey last weekend. Trying out Continental race tyres for the first time, the team was delighted to get two second places, bringing Alan's trophy count to 101. We will need a bigger office to accommodate them all before long!
Unfortunately, the luck ran out a little on Sunday, when Alan crashed out of the race, landing on his head and sustaining damage to an ankle. Luckily, no serious harm was done and after a few days hopping about on crutches, he will be back to his old self. The recovery in mobility will please all the brolly dollies at the forthcoming Thundersport GB round who are swapping high heels for running spikes as we speak...
If you have seen, or even worse, been involved in the chaos caused by catching a front brake lever on another bike in the course of close racing, you will know just how invaluable the latest addition to our online shop can be.
Lever Guards. Fast becoming an essential item in many classes of racing. Fits all 16mm internal tube diameters. Strong yet light and Aerodynamic, acts to sheild the lever from being activated by another riders body or bike if contact is made. Made from 4 parts all available individualy as spares (minimum purchase applies) . Adjustable forward back position to allow individual set up to lever. Universal for both brake/clutch sides. Available in Silver or Black and sold individually.
Al just wanted everyone to know that out of the goodness of his heart and for otherwise purely business purposes, he is sponsoring the Streetfighter classes at Thundersport GB rounds this year. You can see from the picture that, despite all the great personal hardship and pain this causes him, Alan, like the real trooper he is manages to raise a smile.
Pictured here surrounded by the podium and pit lane medical team, queueing up to practice mouth to mouth rescusitation techniques, Alan is pleased to do all he can to help. After all, it is in the best interest of the sport that he loves, so what's putting up with a little discomfort in exchange for that? The photograph is courtesy of The Bike Insurer.Alan assures us that his tyre lever will be back in full effect at the Bemsee meeting this weekend down in Pembrey. There is still time to call with orders for anything particular that you want taken down there to collect in the paddock... I am hoping he is going to bring the one with the tattoos for me :-)
On May 11th and 12th, our familiar paddock truck will be at the famous Derbyshire circuit for the first time this year. Looking forward to great weather and the kind of brilliant racing that this track provides, we will be as always, stocked up to the gunwhales with everyday race bike essentials.Again, as always, if there is anything particular you need, let us know in time and we will make sure it is on the truck for you to collect in the paddock. See you there!
Here it is, hot of the eBay presses! Preparation on the new racer has started and Alan will be aiming to get out on it at as many 400 rounds as he can this year. So to follow up on the item from last week where the bike was introduced, here is its picture. There's a lot to do in order to bring this bike up to Alan's high standard like the last one. A lot of bits will be needed, but luckily, Alan has access to a great selection from stock. Equally luckily, just about anything you need to keep your race bike in fine fettle can be provided quickly by the A&R Racing Services team from the same stock. Call us today for anything you need, or go to our online shop for instant gratification.
Despite having an incredibly busy start to the season, what with the new truck, new online shop and new staff members, Alan has managed to find the time to prepare his new RVF400 race bike for the season ahead. As the old bike had a bit of a battering towards the end of last season, it is now taking the role of spare bike, having been lovingly put back together to undo the damage done in Alan's Thruxton crash. Look out for Alan at as many meetings as time will allow in 2013.
Snetterton certainly lived up to the latitude it shares with Vladivostok at the weekend. Despite the best efforts of all concerned, the weather pictured here put paid to racing activity on Saturday after just seven of the first 8 races had been run. In failing visibility and with questionable grip even on full wets, there was no option for the clerk of the course but to abandon.
The marshals, medical team and all race officials were heroic in the conditions, and we are sure that every competitor there will join us in thanking them for their dedication, without which, there would be no racing at all. Special thoughts go out to Sue Sherwood who fell in the collecting area, breaking her wrist . Hope you get well soon Sue, see you at Brands Hatch!
Working on your bike is always easier when it is supported properly. The new range of MotoGP paddock stands helps you do just that with solid, one-piece construction and well-designed support. There are three models available in our online shop, which can be delivered to your door in plenty of time for Christmas.
The universal rear lifts on bobbins for greater stability and less scuffing of the swinging arm while the front stand supports solidly on rubber coated pins, spring loaded towards the centre to prevent slip. There is also a universal head-lift stand that has five sies of pin to fit most bikes, lifting from the bottom yoke to allow fork leg removal.
The three stands can be seen in more detail and ordered from our online shop here.

Shhhh! Keep it quiet. The sport that we all love is always under scrutiny over noise and limits are always likely to be reduced. To keep everybody happy, you can find a range of additional baffles, silencer packing materials, exhaust clamps and other essential parts to keep your pipe under control.
Whether racing or taking part in a track day, you can be sure that your bike will be subject to noise testing, so don't let a too-loud system spoil your chances of success.
With A&R Racing you can potentially save hundreds of pounds by making your existing exhaust system quieter rather than buying a new one.
With circuits like Oulton Park and Castle Combe facing limited availability to appease local residents, like it or not we have to keep quiet to keep racing, so with a good while to go before the start of the season, you can get ahead of the game and hush your pipe with time to get on the dyno and get the best performance available from the new quiet system. Find the bits you need in our online shop
In a rare weekend off, Alan went to watch the final British Superbikes Round at Brands Hatch GP Circuit at the weekend. In a fantastic triple header of BSB races, Shane (Shakey) Byrne clinched the title ahead of arch rival Tommy Hill. In the true sporting nature of bike racing, Tommy is seen here helping Shakey celebrate with the champagne. A great shot of two people at the top of their game, enjoying the hard won spoils of victory.
Shakey has risen to the very top of his profession from fairly humble beginnings as a club racer with Bemsee. At the time, he was often a customer at the A&R Racing paddock truck, like so many others, getting tyres supplied and fitted efficiently and picking up numerous other essential items at the time. We are proud and happy to have played even a tiny, peripheral part in the Shane Byrne success story. Well done Shakey and all the BSB riders that have given us such great racing.
This weekend sees the last outing of our familiar paddock truck at Mallory Park for the final Thundersport UK meeting of 2012. Mallory is a great circuit for spectators and competitors alike, with views over the whole circuit from many great vantage points, so if you have never been there to watch, now is a good time to start.
For competitors, the circuit offers a huge variety of challenges from the everlasting Gerards Bend to a hairpin and tight as you like bus stop chicane. This all puts a great strain on machinery and tyres, so as always, we will be there in the paddock to supply all the essential items a racer needs and offer our customary tyre fitting service. If you want something particular, just call us or click in the header of any page to email us and we will do all we can to make sure it is on the truck. See you there!
This fabulously fast circuit saw some great racing at the North Gloucester Club's last meeting of the season. Racing was held on Saturday only, and saw a packed programme with Alan racing in the 400cc class. Sadly, a coming together with another rider while lying second caused a mishap that left the bike in rather a sorry state and Alan nursing a damaged paw.
Smiling through the pain, he still managed to fit countless tyres from the A&R Racing paddock truck, making sure that everyone got what they needed. We are looking forward to next season for more of the same (apart from the accident of course), as well as helping racers find the essential items for their winter rebuilds in the meantime. As always, parts are available over the phone, or through our online shop.
Geoff managed to stay on his thousand, going seventh fastest in practice. Sadly, the randomly allocated grid positions in race one put him on 31st place. Despite this, he managed to make up 11 places in a packed field to finish 20th.
Here at A&R Racing Services, we are delighted to be able to offer the range of CRC Fairings body kits for many popular modern bikes. We are nearly at the end of the season and the trees are all changing colour. Long winter nights in the garage or workshop now await many of us to get ready for next year.
This weekend our truck will be serving bike racers at the last Bemsee meeting of the season at Brands Hatch, then next week down to Thruxton for the last North Gloucester meeting of 2012.
As always, our truck will be laden with a huge selection of tyres and spares of all kinds for race bikes, but if you can't get to the paddock, don't forget you can always phone us to order those essential items, or buy online from our new web shop that should go live early in October.
As some of you may know, R & G offer a range of bike protection, from protective tank sliders to steering protectors. We stock a full range of their products on our eBay site, which can be found here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ssn=arracing-uk&_pgn=3&_skc=100&rt=ncThese essential items have been flying off the shelves recently! Perhaps this is due to the crucial protection they offer: just fitting a protector can save a lot of work repairing damaged bike parts. Check out this video, which explains the R & G range and their uses.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMSzfBeFkOM
It was back to Wales this weekend for Alan, who was once again riding his Suzuki SV650 twin at Pembrey. After successful testing on Friday, Alan was qualified to ride in both the Thunderbike sport and Minitwins classes.
